Praise and Worship - The Difference Pt 2

Praise can change your circumstances

It makes a way for God to fight the enemy.

2 Chronicles 20:22 "Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated." Psalm 149:6-9 "Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand, To execute vengeance on the nations, And punishments on the peoples; To bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute on them the written judgment; This honour have all His saints. Praise the LORD!"

But worship causes YOU to change.

2 Cor 3:17,18 "Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."

It says that as we behold the glory of the Lord, we are transformed into His image. You become like that which you worship. Do you want to be like Him? To be changed into His image? Worship is a major key.

Praise is something you do

You can jump up and down, wave your hands, clap and shout, and dance. All these are to do with externals, with our actions. But worship is something you experience, something that takes place in your spirit. It is communion with God.

John 4:23-24 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

Since God is Spirit, worship is not just about bodily activity. It's an activity of the human spirit under the enabling of the Holy Spirit.
